Welcome to the first full season under the banner of Bowls Sunraysia. The aim of the new amalgamated organization was to make the change with as little disruption to all the traditional events the district has held over many years as possible. With this in mind there has been a comprehensive program of consultation and communication with all our member clubs. As a result of this consultation, we have been able to proceed with the full and unconditional support of our member clubs.

It must always be remembered that your board is there to represent you, and to act on guidance provided by you the members.

It was very pleasing to see that all the interim board stood for re-election and were returned, enabling us to continue the ongoing process of ensuring the amalgamation is successful.

As we move forward some benefits are starting to emerge, as a result of the formation of Murray Mallee Region, it was decided at their first Annual General Meeting, that women’s representative teams would join the men in the annual round robin competition between the 4 Divisions in the Region later this year. This will mean that a fully representative side from our Division can now be selected.

The recent changes to the equal opportunity act Vic, means that some gender specific competitions can now be held. There are some conditions with this type of format but it is our belief that these decisions should be generated by the bowlers’ needs and desires and it is our full intention to provide what our bowlers want where possible.

We are pleased to have been able to renew our relationship with our major sponsor Sunraysia Hearing Clinic, Don, Jane and their staff have just started their third year with us and their assistance is greatly appreciated.

We are still finding our way, with the combination of the 2 Associations, budgeting is a bit of an unknown at this point of time, we shall endeavour to keep costs down but we have areas of funding we are unsure of at this point, some recommendations are being made with a view of adjustment next season if needed when we are more confidant of incomes and expenditures. Suffice to say it is policy that the cost to all players playing in similar competitions run by Bowls Sunraysia shall be the same. Similarly, expenditure shall be equally administered.
